How to Get Temporary Access to a Course You are Trying to Add

EWMBA Students

  1. Login to Catalyst: http://catalyst.haas.berkeley.edu. Catalyst requires students to login with their Cal-Net ID and Passphrase. Your Cal-Net ID is the 8 digit numeric Student ID you were issued when you enrolled at UC Berkeley.
  1. Click on “Courses” in the left hand bar.
    1. You will see the courses you are currently enrolled in at the top of the page.
    2. There is a section below “Your current enrollment” called “Your temporary enrollment” that contains courses you have requested temporary access to.  (This section will be empty to begin with.)
    3. To get temporary access to a course you are trying to add, click on the link located at the bottom right-hand corner of this page.  See the screen shot below.

  1. Once you click on the temporary access link, you are taken to a page with a pull-down menu of the courses you can request temporary access to.  See the screen shot below.

Please note: This will get you temporary access to course materials, not actually enroll you in the course.  You are still subject to the rules of registration for classes you request temporary access to (i.e., waitlists for enrolling in EWMBA classes, and working with the EWMBA Program Office for enrolling in full-time MBA classes).

  1. Once you select a course from the pull-down menu, it will show up under “Your temporary enrollments” in the “Courses” screen described in item #2.
    1. This will get you Catalyst access to the course.  Just click on the course.
    2. This will allow you to access Study.Net for the course.

1.       Click on the Study.Net link from the left-hand bar on Catalyst.

2.       Once you are on the Study.Net website, you should see the course under “My Courses”.

3.       Since you are temporarily requesting access to this course, you will need to pay to access the reader electronically.  (Since your enrollment is not guaranteed, we advise against ordering a Textpak, which you would also have to pay for.)

5.       After the Add/Drop period ends, your enrollments will be finalized.

a.       If you successfully enroll in the course, your access will become permanent.  If you accessed Study.Net and paid for electronic access to the reader, Study.net will refund you 100% of what you paid.

b.       If you were unsuccessful in enrolling in the course, your temporary access will be terminated.  If you accessed Study.Net and paid for electronic access to the reader, Study.net will refund you 80% of what you paid.  (You pay 20% for having access to reader materials for the three weeks of Add/Drop.)
